JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Hand Embroider, General is expected to perform include:

Making decorative designs on fabrics and other materials by hand, using needle and thread
Stitching a variety of flat stitches, loop stitches and knotted stitches
Tracing the design on fabric/material to be embroidered, if required

WORK ENVIRONMENT ^{1, 2}

It is a bench job
Need not handle a team
Local travelling is not a part of this job role
Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
Work from home option is available

Working hours

Organizations usually work for 5/6 days a week for 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization
Shift system is not available
Overtime may be involved

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ¹

Preferably, 5^th
Certified training of Hand Embroider, General (programme aligned to AHM/Q1001 released by Apparel Made Up’s and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Understanding of different kind of fabrics like cotton, silk, velvet, crape, etc.
Knowledge of different types of embroidery stitches like cross stitch, French knot stitch, bullion knot stitch, etc.
Familiarity with needle work and thread work
Knowledge of various sewing techniques
Knowledge of operating different embroidery machines
Knowledge of beading, quilting, etc.

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹

Training in sewing operations
Ability to work in teams
