The tasks an Assistant Hair Stylist is expected to perform include:

  • Shampooing and conditioning hair
  • Providing basic hair cuts
  • Assisting the Hair Stylist in providing advanced services
  • Assisting in maintaining the salon ambience
  • Selling salon retail products

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, 8th with ability to read, write and communicate on the job
  • Certified training for Assistant Hair Stylist (programme aligned to BWS/Q0201 released by Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of basic structure of hair
  • Knowledge of clients’ comfort throughout the drying process
  • Proficient in the effects of incorrect application of heat on hair and scalp
  • Well-versed with a range of flat and round brushes available for blow drying and their usage
  • Knowledge of different types of blow drying styles like curls, straightening, etc.
  • Proficient in handling and controlling hair sections during the drying process
  • Well-versed with different massage techniques
