JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an Assistant Painter & Decorator Level-2 is expected to perform include:

  • Mixing of relevant ingredients and blending of paints

  • Lifting, moving and storing paint and related material for construction

  • Preparing all types of basic surfaces for painting work

  • Erecting and dismantling of scaffolds/working platforms/ladders at the workplace

  • Applying different types of paints as per the required surfaces and finishes

  • Varnishing, polishing and finishing of doors, windows, partitions, panels and other surfaces

  • Performing tasks under health, safety and environmental regulations

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • It is not a desk job

  • Work from home is not available

  • Part-time work is not available

  • Contractual jobs are available

  • Travelling is required for this job

  • Role does not involve team handling

Working hours
  • Working hours are a minimum of 8 hours a day for 5 to 6 days a week
  • The job involves frequent to daily extended hours, working in shifts, on holidays, etc.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum - Preferably 5th standard pass with normal literacy of reading, writing and understanding/Helper Painter Level-1 qualified
  • Certified training for Assistant Painter & Decorator (programme aligned to CON/Q 0502 released by Construction Skill Development Council)

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 1

  • Knowledge of stacking materials, system of bag handling, sizing and sorting

  • Knowledge of the properties of materials pertaining to flash point, flow point and its relevance

  • Working knowledge of putty preparation techniques, mixing of ingredients, distempering and colour blending

  • Detailed knowledge of the various types of paints, materials, ratio and mix proportions, surface preparations, colour combinations, rectification of patchwork, and sealing compounds

  • Knowledge of material, process, tools and equipment used for erecting and dismantling temporary scaffolds

  • Working knowledge of paints, materials, other ingredients, blending techniques, standard methods for preparation of platform, placing and the process of mural painting

  • Understanding of how to identify, select and use basic dressing material, first aid and PPEs

  • Sound knowledge of accident, health, safety and evacuation procedures and their reporting

  • Trained to qualify test & assessments by authorised agency for Assistant Painter Level – 2
  • Training period 6 to 8 weeks for Helper Painter Level-1 qualified
