JOB DESCRIPTION 
The tasks a Calibration Engineer is expected to perform include:
  • Testing and standardising medical devices under specified conditions
  • Comparing measurements of medical device with the master equipment
  • Certifying devices as per manufacturer’s specified standard or customer’s requirement

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • It is a desk job

  • Work from home option is not available

  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

  • Local travelling is a part of this job role  

  • Need not handle a team

Working hours

  • Working is 8/9 hours every day for 5/6 days a week

  • Shift system is not applicable

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 

  • Minimum – Preferably ITI

  • Certified training for Calibration Engineer (programme aligned to ELE/Q8002 released by Electronics Sector Skills Development Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES 

  • Understanding medical devices and their applications

  • Understanding of test and calibration methods and instruments used

  • Knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical parts of devices and assembly processes

  • Proficiency at dismantling and re-assembly of devices

  • Ability to handle and operate hazardous tools and equipment

  • Familiarity with common electric and electronics involved in medical devices

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 

  • Familiarity with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions

  • Knowledge of emergency procedures to be followed
