JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Design-for-Manufacture Engineer is expected to perform include:
  • Converting electrical design drawings to wiring and assembly instructions that are easily understood by assembly technicians
  • Interacting with the design engineer to understand specifications of product being developed
  • Comparing specifications of new product with existing and identifying differences in terms of features and functionality
  • Co-ordinating with the procurement department to ensure timely completion of production process

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • It is a desk job

  • Work from home option is not available

  • Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available in some cities

  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role  

  • Need to handle a team

Working hours

  • Working hours are 9/10 hours every day for 6 days a week. This may vary from company to company

  • Shift system may be applicable

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1

  • Minimum – Preferably BTech (Electrical)

  • Certified training for Design-for-Manufacture-Engineer (programme aligned to ELE/Q6101 released by Electronics Sector Skills Council of India)

KEY COMPETENCIES 1

  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical modules and components used in the production process

  • Knowledge of basic mechanical and structural engineering concepts

  • Proficient in CAD, Auto CAD, Pro E and other design and simulation software

  • Well-versed with properties of electrical and electronic components frequently used in the manufacturing process

  • Knowledge of wiring and circuit diagram

  • Knowledge of basic power systems, motor fundamentals, drive system fundamentals

  • Well-versed in power electronics and motor cabling requirements

  • Adept in the identification of the correct software to be used and relevant factors to be considered

  • Well-versed with sources and methods for obtaining required technical information for the design

  • Knowledge of relevant documents and documentation procedures used in the process
