JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an Anaesthesia Technician is expected to perform include:

  • Providing  support to licensed anaesthesia providers in the acquisition and preparation 
  • Checking and setting-up the anaesthetic machine
  • Preparing intravenous drugs
  • Preparing intravenous therapy administration equipment
  • Transferring patients to post-operative care units
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2
  • It is a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Individuals usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. The organization or institution remains open and functional for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime may be required

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably,  12th
  • Certified training for Anaesthesia Technician (programme aligned to HSS/Q 2501 released by Healthcare Sector Skill Council)​
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques
  • Knowledge of principles of aseptic practice
  • Knowledge of basics of anatomy and physiology
  • Proficiency in handling devices to maintain the patient's airway (e.g. laryngeal masks, endotracheal tube)
  • Knowledge of different types and indications for local, Monitored Anaesthesia Care (MAC)
  • Knowledge of regional and general anaesthesia
  • Proficiency in patient assessment, evaluation, transport and patient positioning
  • Proficiency in insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, airway management
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Ability to work in critical and emergency settings
  • Good communication skills
  • Result-oriented
