JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Home Health Aide is expected to perform include:

  • Providing healthcare to the elderly, persons with disabilities at the patient’s home

  • Reporting changes in health status

  • Monitoring health status

  • Providing personal care

  • Ensuring healthy and well balanced diets are fed to the patients

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • It is not a desk job

  • Work from home option is not available

  • Part-time and contractual jobs are available

  • Need not handle a team

  • Travelling is a part of this job

Working hours

  • Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 10/12 hours everyday. This may vary from clinic to clinic

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1

  • Minimum – 8th

  • Certified training for Home Health Aide (programme aligned to HSS/Q 5102 released by Health Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES 1

  • Knowledge of how to drape and undrape patients

  • Well versed with the cleaning procedures to control any type of infection

  • Proficiency in observing and reporting

  • Knowledge of the different types of baths like complete bed bath, partial bath, tub bath, etc.

  • Well versed with reporting procedures for any changes in the patient’s health

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1

  • Proficiency in health-aide procedures and processes

  • Well versed with hygiene processes and procedures

  • Relevant professional qualifications

  • Works effectively with others

  • Manages work to maintain requirements
