JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The task a Document Coder/Processor is expected to perform include:

  • Cataloging or indexing legal documents so that they can be easily retrieved, sorted, reviewed or prioritised
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 5, 4
  • It is a desk job
  • May need to handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Organizations usually work for 5 days a week and 8 to 9 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization
  • Shift system may be available 
  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, Bachelor's Degree in Law or any graduate course
  • Certified training for Document Coder/Processor (programme aligned to SSC/ Q 2901 released by IT-ITeSSSCNASSCOM)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Well-versed with the purpose and scope of work to be carried out and the importance of keeping within these boundaries
  • Knowledge of sources of information and reference materials for creating documents
  • Knowledge of the different ways of structuring documents
  • Ability to understand the importance of obtaining approval for documents 
  • Knowledge on how to use document preparation tools including Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Good command over English
  • Good command over legal language
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Courses in Coding and Indexing, document management systems, law, patents, IP management etc.
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to undertake desk-based job with long hours
  • Good command over English
  • Good command over legal language
