JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a BSS Support Engineer is expected to perform include:

  • Planning preventive maintenance schedule for BSC locations
  • Ensuring network uptime
  • Ensuring effective fault management in case of fault occurrence
  • Reporting and documenting the status at the end of scheduled activity
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It is not a desk job
  • Work from home option is available
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Local travelling maybe part of this job role
  • Need to handle a team of Technicians and Helpers
Working hours
  • Working hours are 8/9 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from company to company
  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum – Preferably Diploma/Bachelor in Technology (Electronics, Computer Science, IT and related field)
  • Certified training for BSS Support Engineer (programme aligned to TEL/Q6200 released by Telecom Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge on functionality of BSC and BTS site equipment
  • Equipped to validate functionality of passive infrastructure equipment
  • Familiar with functionality of test equipment
  • Knowledge of transmission media - optical and microwave
  • Knowledge of login cables (RJ45, RS232, and Hi-Speed USB) for different site equipment
  • Knowledge of software types and versions of BSC, BTS and other equipment
  • Need and requirement of earthing the equipment
  • Proficiency in mechanism to maintain the earthing pit to absolute zero
  • Knowledge of using and deploying cable connectors, cable ties and cable tray
  • Well versed on BTS O&M software tools like Microwave Link
  • Experience in process of logging in the BSC and BTS site equipment
  • Competent in understanding and analyzing critical logs from BSC
  • Knowledge of IP based network - IP back-hauling and IP networking

Technical trainings on BSC and BTS site equipment and software that are to be used to access and work on site equipment
