JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Skin Care Specialist is expected to perform include:

  • Providing skin care treatments to face and body to enhance an individuals' appearance
  • Advising clients about colours and types of make-up
  • Instructing client in make-up application techniques
  • Demonstrating cleaning and skincare regimes to clients
  • Determining the products to be used for improving skin quality
  • Examining and evaluating skin types and condition prior to using products
  • Maintaining records of clients needs and preferences
WORK ENVIRONMENT 5, 1, 4
  • It is a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling may be a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
  • Work from home option may be available
Working hours
  • Salons usually work for 5/6 days a week for 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from salon to salon
  • Being self-employed is an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Preferably, 10th pass

  • Proficient in applying chemical peels in order to reduce fine lines and age spots
  • Knowledge of cleansing clients' skin with water, creams or lotions
  • Adept at demonstrating how to clean and care for skin properly
  • Well-versed with recommending skincare regimens
  • Knowledge of products or colours that will improve clients' skin quality and appearance
  • Proficient in examining clients' skin using magnifying lamps or visors when necessary in order to evaluate skin condition and appearance
  • Adept at keeping record of client needs and preferences and the services provided
  •  Well-versed with performing simple extractions to remove blackheads
  •  Proficient in removing body and facial hair by applying wax
  • Knowledge of selecting and applying cosmetic products such as creams, lotions, and tonics
