JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks an Aerial Photograph Interpreter is expected to perform include:
  • Analysing aerial photographs to detect significant industrial resource or topographical data​
  • Studying photographs to locate roads, industrial centres, rivers, forest areas and to determine the nature of terrain
  • Interpreting photographs to evaluate the potentiality of resources
  • Drawing maps for use of field officers in planning and exploitation of resources
  • Interpreting photographs for timber evaluation, water shed management, construction or mining
  • Enlarging photographs for detailed analysis
  • Using computers and data banks to store, retrieve and compare information

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Preferably, B.Tech/B.E

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Proficient in technical skills like orthophoto mapping, colour shaded mapping, line mapping, vegetation mapping, digital terrain models, range finder, Geographic Information Systems, aerial surveying, etc. 
  • Equipped to use required instruments and perform their maintenance
  • Proficiency in technical drawing and photograph interpretation, research, drawing, field study
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and ArcGIS software
  • Ability to operate total station, levelling, and GPS instruments
  • Knowledge of the limitations associated with taking photographs from a moving aircraft
  • Ability to visualize the finished product before its completion
  • Ability to determine types of cameras and equipment needed to capture clear photographs from mid-air
  • Proficient in using digital photograph editing software
