JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks an Electrician, General is expected to perform include:

Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical machinery equipment and fittings

Studying drawings and other specifications to determine electrical circuit, installation details, etc.

Positioning and installing electrical motors, transformers, etc.

Making connections and soldering terminals

Testing electrical installations and equipment and locating faults

Repairing or replacing defective wiring, burnt out fuses and defective parts

Keeping fittings and fixtures in working order

Operating, attending and maintaining electrical motors, pumps, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

It may be a desk job

May need to handle a team

Travelling is part of this job role

Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

Work from home option maybe available

Working hours

Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week for 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ⁴

Minimum - 8^thstandard

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Knowledge of installing, maintaining and repairing electrical machinery equipment and fittings

Ability to study drawings and specifications to determine electrical circuit, installation details, etc.

Ability to make connections and soldering terminals

Proficient in testing electrical installations and equipment and locating faults

Knowledge of repairing or replacing defective wiring, burnt out fuses, etc.

Ability to keep fittings and fixtures in working order

Knowledge of drawing and joining cables and wires

Well-versed in operating, attending and maintaining electrical motors, pumps etc.
