JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Cable Television Installer is expected to perform include:

  • Installing television cables and equipment on customer's premises using electrician's tools and test equipment
  • Measuring television signal strength at utility pole using electronic test equipment
  • Computing impedance of wire from pole to house to determine additional resistance needed for reducing signal to desired level
  • Installing terminal boxes and strings lead-in wires using electrician's tools
  • Connecting television set to cable system and evaluating incoming signal
  • Adjusting and repairing cable system to ensure optimum reception
  • Collecting installation fees and explaining cable service operation to subscriber
  • Communicating with supervisor using two way radio or telephone to receive instructions or technical advice and to report problems to be repaired
  • Reporting unauthorized use of cable system to supervisor
  • Cleaning and maintaining tools, test equipment, etc.

Preferably, ITI graduate

  • Expertise in television set installations and procedures
  • Proficient in problem-solving for television set-up and installation
  • Knowledge of insulation, wires, etc.
  • Well-versed with electrical circuits​
