JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Biomedical Equipment Technician is expected to perform include:

  • Repairing, calibrating, and maintaining medical equipment and instruments used in healthcare delivery field
  • Inspecting and installing medical and related technical equipment in medical and research facilities for use by Physicians, Nurses, Scientists or Engineers involved in researching, monitoring, diagnosing and treating physical ailments or dysfunctions
  • Servicing various equipment and apparatus such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood-gas analysers​, X-ray units and other related technical paraphernalia
  • Repairing, calibrating and maintaining equipment, using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices
  • Safety-testing medical equipment and healthcare facility's structural environment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards
  • Consulting with medical or research staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely

Preferably, diploma in electronics or medical equipment maintenance
