JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an Aerodrome Officer is expected to perform include:

  • Co-ordinating work of all staff engaged at airport
  • Supervising movement of air traffic at aerodrome 
  • Assisting visiting aircraft and passengers

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 

Minimum – 12th  

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of ensuring that air field is fenced around to prevent unauthorized intrusion and to keep it clear of any obstruction for safe landing and take-off of aircraft
  • Proficient in inspecting runways and ensureing that they are properly maintained, fire fighting equipment is adequate and facilities for parking of aircrafts in aircraft hangers, etc. are available
  • Experience in obtaining and transmitting correct meteorological information to aircraft
  • Knowledge of providing, proper lighting signal equipment to facilitate landing and take-off of aircraft
  • Knowledge of looking after landing and takeoff facilities and rendering other aid to visiting aircraft
  • Proficient in collecting and remitting landing and parking charges on aircraft to government treasury
  • Knowledge of ensuring that passengers' lounge, restaurants, book-stalls and other conveniences are well maintained
  • Knowledge of providing first-aid to sick and injured passengers and crew
  • Proficient in supervising and controling fire fighting operations at airport
  • Experience in assisting search and rescue operations of aircraft and crew in distress
  • Proficient in taking security measures for protection of aerodrome
  • Basic knowledge of IT and computers
