JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Line Inspector, Telegraph and Telephone is expected to perform include:

  • Supervising the execution of new installations and maintenance of existing telephone and telegraph lines
  • Estimating expenditure and equipment required for executing new installations
  • Supervising work of installation of telephone and telegraph lines at site
  • Checking faulty lines to locate and remove defects and conducting maintenance check of lines to ensure efficient performance of communication system
  • Supervising utilization of staff engaged in installation and maintenance work
WORK ENVIRONMENT 2
  • It is not a desk job
  • The role involves team handling a team of personnel
  • Travelling is required on the job
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Work is for 5/6 days a week and minimum 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company
  • The job at times is on call basis
  • It does not involve shift duty

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 

Preferably – Diploma/B.Sc/BE/B-Tech/ME/M-Tech/M.Sc – Electrical/Electronic or Communication

KEY COMPETENCIES 
  • Thorough knowledge of installing and maintaining existing telephone and telegraph lines
  • Expertise in removing defects from faulty lines and conducting maintenance check of lines
  • In-depth knowledge of the process and procedure in laying out new lines
