JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Process Server is expected to perform include:

Serving summons or other processes of law issued by a court on parties concerned for appearance in courts or for realisation of dues, etc.
Receiving a list of summons and processes to be served on parties from the Reader, Court or from other competent authorities
Serving summons or process on parties by delivering one copy of summons after taking acknowledgement on a second copy
Affixing a copy of the summons or processes at prominent public places, doors or houses of the concerned parties
Ensuring that the copies of served and unserved summons are deposited
Providing reasons of non-service to the competent authority
Attending court duties and calling parties or litigants into court by calling their names
Performing duties of a peon

WORK ENVIRONMENT ¹

Need not supervise a team
Local travelling is necessary
Part-time work and contractual jobs are not available

Working hours

Courts usually work for 5/6 days a week and 7/8 hours everyday. This may vary from court to court

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ⁴

Proficient in serving court orders
Skilled in recording the time and place of the delivery of the court summons
Proficient in delivering general messages and documents between the courts and attorneys
Knowledge of the procedures and policies of the Government in such processes
