JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks aBead Maker (Glass)is expected to perform include:
  • Making beads from glass
  • Melting ends of solid glass rod using gas burner or furnace
  • Taking small globule of molten glass on end of metal wire and spinning wire till bead is formed
  • Rolling globule of glass in mould to form bead of desired size and shape
  • Cooling and solidifying glass article by holding it over blast of compressed air
  • Opening mould and removing beads
WORK ENVIRONMENT 2
  • It requires one to be on their toes
  • Need to handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Factories usually work for 6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from factory to factory
  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Minimum-5thstandard pass

KEY COMPETENCIES 
  • Ability to control the heat to achieve the desired shapes
  • Knowledge of basic fundamentals of fusing and slumping glass
  • Proficient in several decorative techniques using glass stringers to create various patterns
  • Well-versed withbasic torch safety, glass terminology, annealing, and bead cleaning
  • Ability to make beads by blowing process
