JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Lens Polisher (Optical) is expected to perform include:

  • Setting and operating the machine to polish surfaces of lens blank to high lustre
  • Selecting and fitting felt-lined polishing mould of required size and curvature on lower spindle of machine
  • Positioning block on which lens blanks are mounted against polishing tool
  • Starting the machine and applying rouge or any other polishing compound to disc periodically during polishing process to polish blank to required level of lustre
  • Stopping the machine and removing block from machine and examining blanks for defects​
  • Operating battery and cylindrical polishing machines, if required

  • It requires physical activity 
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available

Working hours
  • Organizations usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization

  • Adept at applying rouge or any other polishing compound to disc periodically to polish blank to required level of lustre
