JOB DESCRIPTION 1

 

The tasks an Iron & Steel–Fitter: Electrical Assembly is expected to perform include:
Identifying the operations required to assemble various components of the machine by studying their engineering drawings
Fitting different components of the machine and testing the assembled machine
Ensuring material appropriateness for assembly
Preparing equipment to perform the assembling of components
Ensuring housekeeping and safety on the shop floor
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT 

 

It needs one to be on their toes
Need not handle a team
Local travelling is not a part of this job
Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
Work from home option is not available
 
Working hours

 

Working hours are 10/12 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from factory to factory
Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1

 

Minimum – 12th Standard (Science) /ITI Pass
Certified training for Iron & Steel – Fitter: Electrical Assembly (programme aligned to ISC/Q0901 released by Indian Iron & Steel Sector Skill Council)
 
KEY COMPETENCIES 1

 

Knowledge of assembling techniques such as aligning, bending, fixing, mechanical jointing, threaded jointing, sealing, torqueing, etc. 
Well-versed with steps required to assemble/ de-assemble an equipment with a given design
Proficient in ensuring that equipment is safe and ready to use by checking electrical connections, power return and earthing arrangements, etc. 
Knowledge of procedures to check adherence to specifications and quality standards of equipment like vernier, calliper, screw gauge, etc.
Proficient in reading and understanding engineering and tools drawings
Knowledge of causes of common problems during assembly and their remedies 
Proficient in compilation of test results in prescribed format
Well-versed with units of measurement
Proficient in responding to emergencies life power failure, fire and system failure
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1

 

Training in theoretical concepts on machine handling and electrical panels
Training in operation of machinery and electrical panels

EXPECTED EARNINGS 3

 

For freshers - ₹ 8,500 to ₹ 15,000 per month
For candidates with 2-3 years of experience or more - ₹ 17,000 to ₹ 19,000 per month

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE 1

In lieu of minimum qualification the incumbent should have minimum 24 months of relevant experience in the similar field/function
