JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Cutting Machine Operator (Confectionery) is expected to perform include:

• Operating machine for cutting candy into pieces or strips of desired shape and size

• Cutting slab of candy into sections, using knife

• Selecting cutting dies, mounted on shaft, according to specified width of cut and installing cutting discs in machine

• Starting machine and feeding candy to machine through sizing rollers for automatic formation, slicing, etc.

• Weighing random samples to ensure conformity of product with size and weight specifications

• Dusting candy with flour or starch to prevent sticking

• Cleaning machine and keeping place tidy

WORK ENVIRONMENT ¹

• It is not a desk job

• Need not handle a team

• Local travelling is not a part of this job role

• Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available

• Work from home option is not available

Working hours

• Companies usually work for 6/7 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

• Shift system is available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ⁴

Minimum – ITI

• Skilled in various cutting techniques involved in candy making

• Knowledge of cutting dies, moulds, etc. to give desired shape to candies

• Knowledge of health and hygiene standards to be followed in food industry

• Basic knowledge of repairing required for a machine

• Knowledge of different types of candies and their specifications
