JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks of a Wood Treater is expected to perform include:
  • Treating underground portion of transmission poles
  • Using chemical preservative after installation
  • Digging around base of pole to expose area susceptible to decay
  • Scrapping dirt and other residue from pole surface
  • Chipping away decayed wood using hand tools
  • Painting dressed area with preservative solution using brush
  • Wrapping treated portion of pole with waterproof paper
  • Refilling hole and packs earth firmly around base of pole using shove
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It needs one to be on their toes
  • Need not handle a team 
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Working hours are 8/10 hours everyday for 6 days a week. This may vary from factory to factory
  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible 
  • Shift system maybe available
