JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks an Examiner, Wood Working is expected to perform include:
  • Examining wood and finished wooden articles on completion or at different stages of production and ensuring adherence to prescribed tolerances and specifications
  • Examining type and quality of wood for grains, knots etc. for grading and ensuring adherence to prescribed specifications 
  • Checking the marking, sawing, shaping, joining, setting, etc. along with drawing or sample using foot rule, calipers and other instruments at various stages of production and ensuring required finish of completed article 
  • Recording defects where noticed, rejecting defective pieces or suggesting rectifications, if possible
WORK ENVIRONMENT 2
  • It needs one to be on their toes
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Factories usually work for 6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from factory to factory 
  • Shift system maybe available

  • Proficient in studying drawings and specifications and noting types of articles to be made 
  • Knowledge of different type and quality of wood
  • Proficient in identifying and recording defective pieces
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of checking machine set up, blending of patches, inlaying, seasoning of wood and like factors for manufacture of particular items such as sports goods, cabinets, furniture, rifle butts etc. 
  • Knowledge of estimating material and labour cost
