JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Peeling Machine Operator is expected to perform include:

Operating wood peeling machine for cutting wooden billets into veneers of required size and thickness
Selecting and fitting cutter to get required sizes of veneer
Checking size of veneer to ensure that it is as per required specification

WORK ENVIRONMENT

It needs one to be on their toes
Need not handle a team
Travelling is not a part of this job role
Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available in some cities
Work from home option is not available

Working hours

Working hours are 9/10 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from factory to factory
Shift system maybe be available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ³

Minimum – ITI graduate degree

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Knowledge of setting up wood peeling machine
Proficient in adjusting and fastening billet on machine by tightening end forks of rotary lathe sets angle of cutting tool
Adept at adjusting gap between pressure bar and knife
Well-versed in operating machine to remove required size of thin strips of veneer from surface of billet
Proficient in running machine at steady speed to obtain uniform sized strips eliminating knotted and defective area of billet
Knowledge of replacing blunt cutters and lancets
Adept at undertaking machine repair and maintenance work

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹

Knowledge of cleaning and oiling machine
Knowledge of attending to running repairs of machine

EXPECTED EARNINGS ⁵

For freshers – ₹ 8,000 to ₹ 12,000 per month
For candidates with 1-2 years of experience - ₹ 12,000 to ₹ 15,000 per month
For candidates with over 2 years of experience - ₹ 15,000 to ₹ 20,000 per month
