The tasks a Beauty Advisor is expected to perform include:

  • Consulting, advising, marketing and selling a range of beauty treatments
  • Performing various duties such as providing skin care, applying make-up, removal of unwanted hair, etc.

  • It is not a desk job
  • Need to handle a team

Working hours
  • Working hours are 8/9 hours a day for 6 days a week. This may vary from salon to salon

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, 10th with ability to read, write and communicate effectively
  • Certified training for Beauty Advisor (programme aligned to BWS/Q0103 released by Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of the types of products, materials and equipment required for beauty treatments
  • Familiar with the process to sterilize and disinfect equipment/tools
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for skin treatments
  • Skilled in principles and practice of skin therapies​
  • Knowledge of basic ailments, contraindications, contra-actions, treatment plans, etc.
  • Knowledge of range and use of product available for facial treatment suitable for different skin types and conditions
  • Knowledge of the structure, function, characteristics of nail and process of nail growth
  • Proficiency in pedicure and manicure techniques
  • Knowledge of chemical compounds found in hair and beauty products
  • Knowledge of electrotherapy
  • Knowledge of products used with EMS, galvanic, lymphatic drainage unit, hi-frequency, etc.
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Training as Assistant Beauty Therapist (Level 03)
  • Training as Beauty Therapist (Level 04) or equivalent
  • Training course in skincare services, depilation services, manicure and pedicure, make-up services
  • Training course in cosmetics/beauty products
  • Training course in basics of anatomy, physiology, circulation, muscles, skin, nails, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good hand-eye co-ordination
  • Customer-oriented
