JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Cast House Junior Operator is expected to perform include:

Cleaning/preparing of the cast house, hot metal/slag runners, etc.
Preparing mud-gun/tap hole drill machine
Making tap hole and metal runners, proper heating, etc. before the cast

WORK ENVIRONMENT ¹

It is not a desk job
Need not handle a team
Local travelling is not a part of this job profile

Working hours

Working hours are 8/9 hours a day for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from organization to organization

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ¹

Minimum – Class 8th pass
Certified training for Cast House Junior Operator (programme aligned to ISC/Q0406 job released by Indian Iron & Steel Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Skilled in handling equipment
Skilled in operating tools and tackles required for handling equipment
Knowledge of operation of cast house equipment e.g. mud gun, tap hole drill machine, overhead crane, etc.
Knowledge of EOT crane signalling

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹

Training in reading and writing reports
Induction training on overview of blast furnace operation
Training in tap hole preparation and maintenance
Training in trough, iron runner and slag runner preparation
Training in operation of mud gun, tap hole drilling machine, etc.
Training in cast house crane functioning
Training in 5S and safety practices
