JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Nail Technician is expected to perform include:

  • Preparing and maintaining the work area ​
  • Performing manicure and pedicure   
  • Performing nail care services like nail art application, electric filing, refilling, nail enhancement and overlays, gel polish application, etc. 
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2
  • It is not a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs may be available
  • Work from home option may be available

Working hours

  • Organizations usually work for 5/ 6 days a week and 8/10 hours every day. This may vary from organization to organization
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime is not required 
  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, 8th
  • Certified training for Nail Technician (programme aligned to BWS/Q0402 released by Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council)​​
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Ability to prepare and maintain the work area 
  • ​Proficient in performing manicure and pedicure services 
  • Well-versed in performing nail enhancement and overlay using liquid and powder (acrylic) or UV gel
  • Competent to perform nail overlay using ​electric filing ​
  • Experienced to perform refilling and nail art application
  • Ability to apply gel polish 
  • ​Knowledge of the structure, function and characteristics of nail and process of nail growth
  • ​Knowledge of products, tools and equipment suitable to carry the procedure of acrylic nail enhancement​​​
  • ​Knowledge of nail diseases or disorders​
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Good hand-eye co-ordination​
  • Certified training in Level 3 Assistant Nail Technician
