JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Fashion Designer is expected to perform include:

  • Developing fashion design briefs
  • Managing the development of design concept

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, 12th pass
  • Certified training for Fashion Designer (programme aligned to AMH/Q1201 released by Apparel Made Up’s and Home Furnishing - Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of garment construction techniques and processes
  • Knowledge of how to create design by hand sketches or Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • Detailed knowledge of different range of fabrics
  • Knowledge of the cost involved in making an apparel
  • Knowledge of sale ability of a product designed
  • Knowledge of types of fabrics that require stitching by hand or machine
  • Knowledge of sewing and pattern-making techniques
  • Well-versed with trends relating to fabrics, colours and shapes
  • Competent in using illustration software CorelDraw, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.

  • Certification course in Fashion Design
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Ability to forecast trends and style
