The tasks a Fashion Designer is expected to perform include:

Developing fashion design briefs
Managing the development of design concept
Conducting market research and trend analysis
Creating prototype design
Evaluating the sample and documentation of prototype

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ¹

Preferably, 12^th pass
Certified training for Fashion Designer (programme aligned to AMH/Q1201 released by Apparel Made Up’s and Home Furnishing - Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Knowledge of garment construction techniques and processes
Knowledge of how to create design by hand sketches or Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Detailed knowledge of different range of fabrics
Knowledge of the cost involved in making an apparel
Knowledge of sale ability of a product designed
Knowledge of types of fabrics that require stitching by hand or machine
Knowledge of sewing and pattern-making techniques
Well-versed with trends relating to fabrics, colours and shapes
Competent in using illustration software CorelDraw, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹

Certification course in Fashion Design
Ability to think creatively
Ability to forecast trends and style
