JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Merchandiser is expected to perform include:

  • Analysing the product
  • Establishing merchandising objectives
  • Developing and presenting merchandising plan
  • Organizing & co-ordinating for pre-production
  • Co-ordinating and managing factory shipment
  • Maintaining health, safety and security at workplace
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 2
  • It is not a desk job
  • Need to handle a team of Workers
  • Local travelling maybe a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available

Working hours
  • Organizations usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, Graduate in any discipline
  • Certified training Merchandiser (programme aligned to AMH/Q0901 released by Apparel, Made Up’s and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Equipped to use computer (MS Office, data management and basic Internet) and other ERP platform 
  • Well-versed with conducting sequence operations
  • Proficient in following market trend assessment, changes, procedures and practices in the relevant fields
  • Competent in performing market trend analysis and identify buying patterns 
  • Competent in determining the following key criteria for design brief such as business goals, buyer’s requirements, target market, budget and time constraints
  • Well-versed with design brief which includes the design collection analysis
  • Knowledge of process of product development and production

  • Able to work under high pressure
