JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an Auto Service Technician Level 3 is expected to perform include:

  • Assisting in service, maintenance and mechanical repairs to any part of the motor vehicle
  • Procuring workshop supplies and tools as directed by the supervisor
  • Maintaining an inventory of tools and parts
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1, 3
  • It is not a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not required
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Organizations usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization
  • Shift system is available
  • Overtime may be required
  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, 8th
  • Certified training for Auto Service Technician Level 3 (programme aligned to ASC/Q 1401 released by Automotive Skills Development Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of the various components of a vehicle
  • Knowledge of various tools and machines used for repairs
  • Ability to perform laborious work
  • Ability to carry out minor repair work
  • Ability to keep the workplace organized and clean
  • Knowledge of how to move vehicles
  • Knowledge of how to lift materials or equipment manually or using hoists
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • ASDC Auto Service Technician Level 3 Certificate or ITI Diploma
  • Physically fit
  • Manual dexterity
  • Good hand-eye co-ordination
  • Ability to work in teams
