JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks an Assistant Beautician is expected to perform include:

Performing basic epilation, manicure, pedicure and basic face care services
Assisting the Beautician in providing advanced services
Assisting in maintaining the salon ambience
Performing other jobs like selling salon retail products

WORK ENVIRONMENT ^{4, 5}

It is not a desk job
Need not handle a team
Travelling may be required as a part of the job
Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
Work from home option is not available

Working hours

Working hours are 8/9 hours everyday for 6 days a week. This may vary from salon to salon
Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible
Shift system may be available
Overtime may be involved

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ¹

Preferably, 8^th with the ability to read, write and communicate effectively on the job
Certified training for Assistant Beautician (programme aligned to BWS/Q0101 released by Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Knowledge of types of products, materials and equipment required for various treatments
Well-versed with the distinction between sterilization, disinfection and application
Knowledge of different types of sterilizing and disinfecting equipment/products available and their correct usage like boiling, baking, steaming, etc.
Knowledge of different types and effects of skin warming devices
Proficient in identifying erythema and its causes
Knowledge of different types of masks and their effects on the skin
Knowledge of time intervals required for facial and bleach treatment
Proficient in hair removal methods like sugaring, tweezing, shaving, etc. and their effects
