JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an Assistant Beautician is expected to perform include:

  • Performing basic epilation, manicure, pedicure and basic face care services
  • Assisting the Beautician in providing advanced services
  • Assisting in maintaining the salon ambience
  • Performing other jobs like selling salon retail products
WORK ENVIRONMENT 4, 5
  • It is not a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Travelling may be required as a part of the job
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Working hours are 8/9 hours everyday for 6 days a week. This may vary from salon to salon
  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime may be involved

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, 8th with the ability to read, write and communicate effectively on the job
  • Certified training for Assistant Beautician (programme aligned to BWS/Q0101 released by Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of types of products, materials and equipment required for various treatments
  • Well-versed with the distinction between sterilization, disinfection and application
  • Knowledge of different types of sterilizing and disinfecting equipment/products available and their correct usage like boiling, baking, steaming, etc.
  • Knowledge of different types and effects of skin warming devices
  • Proficient in identifying erythema and its causes
  • Knowledge of different types of masks and their effects on the skin
  • Knowledge of time intervals required for facial and bleach treatment
  • Proficient in hair removal methods like sugaring, tweezing, shaving, etc. and their effects
