JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Fitter – Mechanical Assembly is expected to perform include:

  • Preparing for general machining, fitting and assembling operations

  • Marking out components

  • Measuring and checking components

  • Performing general fitting and assembling operations

  • Performing tasks as per the health, safety and environmental regulations

WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It is not a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are not available 
  • Work from home option is not available

 

Working hours
  • Work is 5 days a week and a minimum of 8 hours per day
  • Shift system is available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum - 10th standard 
  • Certified training for Fitter – Mechanical Assembly (programme aligned to CSC/Q 0304 released by Capital Goods Skill Council)

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of how to extract, use and interpret information from engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of marking out activities, its importance and selecting the most appropriate datum
  • Working knowledge of various fitting activities to be carried out, methods of holding and mounting work pieces and work holding devices
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures of assembling, alignment, mechanical fastening and joining techniques
  • Knowledge of range of materials and equipment, techniques of taking trial cuts, effects of coolant concentration and machining temperatures
  • Knowledge of checking measurement equipment, measuring internal, external dimensions and geometric features
  • Knowledge of the importance of health, safety and environmental regulations, hazards associated and personal protective equipment required
  • Working knowledge of post-fitting activities of production and the end product
