JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Dialysis Technician is expected to perform include:

Operating dialysis machines
Performing dialysis on patients
Cleaning and sterilization of the dialysis machines
Giving patients the required medical, technical, social, emotional support
Providing vital information of patients’ conditions to nurses, doctors and other medical staff

WORK ENVIRONMENT

It is not a desk job
Working from home is not available
Contractual and part-time work is available
Need not handle a team
Travelling maybe a part of the job

Working hours

Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from clinic to clinic

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ¹

Minimum – 12^th standard in Science
Certified training for Dialysis Technician (programme aligned to HSS/Q 2701 released by Healthcare Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Knowledge about the significance of the medical reports describing the patients’ condition
Well versed with the values of the vital parameters under which dialysis can be safely performed
Knowledge of the sources of information that can be accessed to maintain an awareness of research and development in one's area of work
Proficiency in the method of measuring vital parameters accurately
Knowledge on the importance of reporting and minimizing risk

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹
