JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a General Duty Assistant is expected to perform include:

  • Overlooking patients’ daily care, comfort, safety and health needs
  • Maintaining a suitable environment for patients
  • Ensuring a healthy and well-balanced diet is fed to the patients
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It is not a desk job
  • Work from home option is not available
  • Part-time work maybe available
  • Need not handle a team
  • Travelling may or may not be a part of the job
Working hours
  • Companies usually work for 6/7 days a week and 9/10 hours everyday. This may vary from clinic to clinic
  • Shift system may be available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum –5th but 8thstandard is also considered in certain situations
  • Certified training for General Duty Assistant (programme aligned to HSS/Q 5101 released by Healthcare Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of how to drape and undrape patients
  • Knowledge of equipment like wheelchairs, stretchers, catheters, etc.
  • Well versed with the cleaning procedures to control any type of infection
  • Proficiency in performing back rubs
  • Well versed with the grooming needs to be provided to patients like shaving, brushing, finger care, etc.
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of different types of baths like complete bed-bath, partial bath, tub bath, etc.
  • Adept with the procedures of reporting something that is clinically important
  • Well versed with the measurement and recording of food intake
