JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Language Translator is expected to perform include:

  • Translating software into different languages as per the convenience of the end-users
  • Understanding the software languages and platforms
WORK ENVIRONMENT 3, 4, 1
  • It is a desk job
  • May require supervising Trainee or Engineer
  • Travelling is not part of this job role
  • Part-time and contractual jobs may be available
  • Work from home option may be available
Working hours
  • Multinational organizations usually work for 5 days a week and 8 to 9 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization
  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible
  • Shift system is available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Computers/Technology
  • Certified training for Language Translator (programme aligned to SSC/Q6802 released by IT-ITeSSSCNASSCOM)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Well-versed with different sources of information required to design customised software products/applications
  • Proficient in designing  software products/applications 
  • Well-versed with the range of activities involved in designing different software products/applications
  • Knowledge of different equipment used to design software products/applications
  • Adept in determining  whether components are suitable for re-use 
  • Well-versed in developing and executing (Unit Test Case )UTCs
  • Knowledge of different types of problems and defects that may occur and how these may be resolved
  • Proficient with software development lifecycle
  • Adept in using different software for languages, translation and tools
  • Well-versed in testing and determining whether new products and applications are fit for given purpose
  • Knowledge of current practice in relation to the customisation of software products/applications
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Certifications in Language(s)/ product documentation Internationalisation and Localization approaches in software products
  • Ability to work independently
