JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Technical Writer is expected to perform include:
  • Creating technical documentation related to applications like job-aids, help documents and training materials
  • Creating user guides for software applications, software operation, reference manuals, training or online help

  • It is a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available

Working hours
  • Multinational organization usually work for 5 days a week and 8 to 9 hours everyday. This may vary from organization to organization

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, Bachelors Degree in any Engineering Stream
  • Certified training for Technical Writer (programme aligned to SSC/ Q 4501 released by IT-ITeS SSC NASSCOM)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Well-versed with the process for designing documents 
  • Proficiency in presenting the information in structured ways 
  • Adept with different ways in which documents can be used to support software products/applications 
  • Well-versed with the current practice in developing documents to support software products/applications 
  • Proficient in completing the work accurately and in an appropriate timescale
  • Knowledge of the organization’s policies, procedures and guidelines for creating documents for software products/applications
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Courses/certifications/trainings in technical writing/instructional design
  • Ability to work in teams
  • Effective communication skills
