JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Drum Operator is expected to perform include:
  • Loading material into large rotating wooden drums to process them
  • Adding the necessary floats and chemicals as per specifications
  • Maintaining the temperature in the drums
  • Completing the required quality checks to ensure completion of processing
  • Ensuring safe and efficient operation of the machine and related equipment

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 2
  • It is a not a desk job 
  • Need to handle a team of Trainee Drum Operators 
  • Travelling is not part of the job 

  • Contractual work is available 

  • Working from home option is not available

 

Working hours

  • Working is 5/6 days a week and 8 hours every day. This may vary from company to company.

  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum –  5th standard 
  • Certified training for Drum Operator (programme aligned to LSS / QO701 release by Leather Sector Skill Council)

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Well-versed in the preparatory work prior to commencing operations
  • Knowledge of the types and characteristics of hides, skins or leather produced
  • Adept in obtaining information on work specifications, standard operating procedures for drums, work instructions and other reference material
  • Well-versed in quality specifications for soaking operation
  • Equipped with the basic functions and inputs of the rotary drum such as drum speed, drum dimensions, salt concentration, etc.
  • Knowledge of the common faults in tools and equipment and implications of working with faulty equipment

 

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1

Knowledge of minor machine maintenance in accordance with workplace procedures
