JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Language Specialist is expected to perform include:

Specialising in one or more Indian or foreign languages

Collecting literature from archives, libraries on languages and studying their structure and development

Tracing origin and evolution of words and deciphers writings and ancient languages found in archaeological remains of past civilisation

Analysing ancient languages and comparing them with modern languages

Writing theses and preparing dictionaries

WORK ENVIRONMENT

It is a desk job
Need not handle a team
Local travelling is not a part of this job role
Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
Work from home option is available

Working hours

Working hours are 10/12 hours everyday for 6/7 days a week. This may vary from company to company

Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ³

Minimum – Preferably Master’s degree in English literature

KEY COMPETENCIES ³

Proficient in writing or compiling dictionaries, lists, lexicons, encyclopaedias, etc.
Knowledge of different languages
Well-versed with problems of translation
Proficient in practical usage of grammar
Proficient in identifying instances of incorrect usage of grammar
Proficient in one or more different languages like Japanese, German and French, etc.
