JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Language Specialist is expected to perform include:

  • Specialising in one or more Indian or foreign languages

  • Collecting literature from archives, libraries on languages and studying their structure and development

  • Tracing origin and evolution of words and deciphers writings and ancient languages found in archaeological remains of past civilisation

  • Analysing ancient languages and comparing them with modern languages

  • Writing theses and preparing dictionaries

WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It is a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
  • Work from home option is available
 
Working hours

  • Working hours are 10/12 hours everyday for 6/7 days a week. This may vary from company to company

  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Minimum – Preferably Master’s degree in English literature

  •          Proficient in writing or compiling dictionaries, lists, lexicons, encyclopaedias, etc.
  •          Knowledge of different languages

  •          Well-versed with problems of translation
  •  
  •          Proficient in practical usage of grammar
  •          Proficient in identifying instances of incorrect usage of grammar
  •          Proficient in one or more different languages like Japanese, German and French, etc.
