JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Radio Commentator is expected to perform include:
  • Giving running commentary on events of national importance, sports events, festivals, etc. over broadcasting system
  • Obtaining general background of events or occasion, which has to be covered, by consulting relevant literature, interviewing people and visiting locale
  • Describing local personalities, sequence of events and pinpointing important occasion in the events by modulating  tone of speech
  • Maintaining listeners interest by providing comprehensive picture of the event
  • Recording commentary by speaking into portable tape recorder by visiting and moving around the site of activity

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It is a desk job 
  • Need not handle a team 
  • Local travelling is a part of this job role 
  • Part-time and contractual jobs maybe available 
  • Work from home option is not available

 

Working hours

  • Working hours are 8/9 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary company to company

  • Shift system is not available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 5

Minimum – Preferably Graduate or Master’s degree

  • Well-versed with scripting and presenting radio show
  • Proficient in voice modulation 
  • Well-versed with isolating the important happenings in the event under coverage and broadcasting it on radio according to set programme for general information 
  • Adept at using sound equipment and computers 
  • Proficient in retaining listeners’ interest 
  • Adept at interviewing show guests
