JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Broadband Technician is expected to perform include:

  • Installing, configuring and testing Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) like modem, routers, switches, etc. for broadband access
  • Establishing connectivity between CPE and end user device like CPU, laptop, tablet, smart/IP TV, etc.
  • Carrying out basic troubleshooting for identifying and rectifying connectivity and equipment fault in co-ordination with Network Operations Centre (NOC)
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It needs one to be on their toes
  • Need not handle a team
  • Travelling is a part of the job 
  • Part-time and contractual jobs maybe available
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Working hours are 8/9 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from company to company
  • Shift system is available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum – Preferably 10+2/ITI graduate with Electronics
  • Certified training for Broadband Technician (programme aligned to TEL/Q0102 released by Telecom Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of various cabling types like twisted pair, Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), etc.
  • Well-versed with structured cabling norms
  • Knowledge of CPE like modem, routers, switches, etc.
  • Proficient with network topologies, broadband network elements, gateways, etc.
  • Knowledge of cable laying and establishing connection
  • Well-versed with variety of connectors like RJ-45, RJ-11, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety measures
  • Proficient in crimping, shouldering, etc.
