JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks an E Waste Collector is expected to perform include:

Collecting e-waste from retailers, repair shops and other unorganised stakeholders
Promoting the importance of e-waste management
Creating awareness about the ill effects of improper handling of e-waste
Transporting the collected e-waste to the central warehouse
Packaging the e-waste, labeling and maintaining the log

WORK ENVIRONMENT

It is not a desk job
Work from home option is available
Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
Local travelling may be part of this job role
Need to handle a team of helpers or workers

Working hours

Working hours are 8/9 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from company to company

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ¹

Minimum – Preferably 5^th standard pass
Certified training for E Waste Collector (programme aligned to TEL/Q2400 released by Telecom Sector Skill Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Well-versed with the ill effects of improper recycling/treatment of E-waste
Knowledge about toxic and hazardous waste
Knowledge on safety procedures of transporting and packaging of collected e-waste
Well-versed with the product/type wise packaging
Proficiency in weighing and labeling
Knowledge of warehouse etiquettes and firefighting to avoid damage to the stored e-waste
