JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks an E Waste Collector is expected to perform include:

  • Collecting e-waste from retailers, repair shops and other unorganised stakeholders
  • Promoting the importance of e-waste management
  • Creating awareness about the ill effects of improper handling of e-waste
  • Transporting the collected e-waste to the central warehouse
  • Packaging the e-waste, labeling and maintaining the log
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It is not a desk job
  • Work from home option is available
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Local travelling may be part of this job role
  • Need to handle a team of helpers or workers
Working hours
  • Working hours are 8/9 hours everyday for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from company to company
  • Shift system is not available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Minimum – Preferably 5th standard pass
  • Certified training for E Waste Collector (programme aligned to TEL/Q2400 released by Telecom Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Well-versed with the ill effects of improper recycling/treatment of E-waste
  • Knowledge about toxic and hazardous waste
  • Knowledge on safety procedures of transporting and packaging of collected e-waste
  • Well-versed with the product/type wise packaging
  • Proficiency in weighing and labeling
  • Knowledge of warehouse etiquettes and firefighting to avoid damage to the stored e-waste
