EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, 8th 
  • Certified training for Optical Fibre Splicer (programme aligned to TEL/Q6400 released by Telecom Sector Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Proficient with principles of optical transport media and Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) communication
  • Knowledge of optical fibre characteristics like refraction, polarization, attenuation, dispersion, etc.
  • Well-versed with bands in optical fibre and their usability, loss characteristics
  • Knowledge of signal strength and quality KPIs – design values and margins
  • Well-versed with functionality of optical equipment like cleaver, mechanical and fusion splicing kit, protection sleeves, fibre stripper, fibre reinforced plaster during splicing and jointing
  • Adept at functionality of optical test equipment like Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and power meter
  • Knowledge of optimal values of OTDR, power meter and light meter test results
  • Proficient in understanding utility of As-build route diagrams
  • Adept at standard trenching, cable laying, pit preparation, splicing, jointing, blowing and back-filling process for installation of OFC cables
  • Knowledge of different types of OFC connectors based on the type of equipment
  • Proficient in standard process and need for performing duct integrity tests like air tightness tests and kink free tests
  • Well-versed with precaution to be taken while dealing while installation
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1
  • Training in soft skills (mandatory for 8th to 12th standard pass)
  • Technical training on standard splicing process for both underground and overhead cables, interpreting the colour​ coding to avoid cross fibre
  • Training on fibre testing using OTDR meter and power testing
  • Detail-oriented 
  • Hardworking and persistent
