JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Housekeeping Attendant is expected to perform include:

  • Identifying housekeeping requirements
  • Adapting correct procedures for housekeeping work
  • Cleaning the property and common areas by sweeping, mopping, wiping, etc.
  • Completing assigned housekeeping tasks
  • Monitoring and maintaining cleanliness and tidiness at the workplace

  • It requires physical activity
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
  • Work from home option is not available
Working hours
  • Individual usually works for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. The organization or institution remains open and functional for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
  • Shift system may be available
  • Overtime may be required

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1
  • Preferably, primary education
  • Certified training for Housekeeping Attendant (Manual Cleaning) (programme aligned to THC/Q0203 released by Tourism and Hospitality Indian Skill Council)
KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Knowledge of housekeeping standards required at the workplace
  • Well-versed with site layouts and obstacles
  • Proficient in inspecting a work area to decide what cleaning it needs and the best way of carrying it out
  • Knowledge of the various levels of personal hygiene and the importance of maintaining them during work
  • Well-versed with storage, service and upkeep procedure for housekeeping equipment and consumables
  • Proficient in cleaning the work area in the correct sequence
  • Knowledge of the types of containers in which to put dust and debris
  • Well-versed with types of problems one might come across while cleaning toilets and the ways to deal with it
  • Proficient in effective cleaning that helps with infection control
