JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks a Core Maker, Vertical Pipe is expected to perform include:

Preparing cores for casting vertical pipes by repeated process of loam application

Applying splash loam uniformly on metal body and covering it with straw roll mechanically

Applying protective loam over it

Getting it dried up in gas fixed stoves

Revolving it mechanically against core board to get coating of the fine loam

Sizing core by mechanically scrapping off extra material after drying

Cutting off bottom portion of core to prevent crushing during operations

Repairing defects, if any

Applying thick coating of blackwash and getting it dried up again before use

WORK ENVIRONMENT ¹

It is not a desk job

Need not handle a team

Local travelling is not a part of this job role

Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available

Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ⁴

Minimum – Graduate diploma in Mechanical Engineering

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Skilled in setting up machines according to the blueprints

Efficient in operating and monitoring casting or core-making machines

Knowledge of how to adjust machine settings for temperature, speed, feed rates and cycle times

Ability to remove finished products, smooth rough edges and remove imperfections without causing damage

Knowledge of how to test and compare finished work-pieces to specifications
