JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks an Electrician, General is expected to perform include:
  • Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical machinery equipment and fittings
  • Studying drawings and other specifications to determine electrical circuit, installation details, etc.
  • Positioning and installing electrical motors, transformers, etc.
  • Making connections and soldering terminals
  • Testing electrical installations and equipment and locating faults
  • Repairing or replacing defective wiring, burnt out fuses and defective parts
  • Keeping fittings and fixtures in working order
  • Operating, attending and maintaining electrical motors, pumps, etc.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • It may be a desk job
  • May need to handle a team
  • Travelling is part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
  • Work from home option maybe available

 

Working hours

  • Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week for 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 4
Minimum - 8th standard

  • Knowledge of installing, maintaining and repairing electrical machinery equipment and fittings

  • Ability to study drawings and specifications to determine electrical circuit, installation details, etc.

  • Ability to make connections and soldering terminals

  • Proficient in testing electrical installations and equipment and locating faults

  • Knowledge of repairing or replacing defective wiring, burnt out fuses, etc.

  • Ability to keep fittings and fixtures in working order

  • Knowledge of drawing and joining cables and wires

  • Well-versed in operating, attending and maintaining electrical motors, pumps etc.
