JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Dietician is expected to perform include:

  • Planning, supervising and instructing the preparation of therapeutic or other diets for individuals or groups
  • Determining the nutritional values of food and food products
  • Planning menus and special diets with proper nutritional value
  • Estimating and purchasing the required food, equipment and supplies for the client
  • Ensuring that the food is properly prepared and sanitary conditions are maintained in cooking and catering places
  • Instructing individuals and groups in applying principles of nutrition during selection and preparation of food
  • Preparing educational materials on nutrition
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1
  • It is a desk job
  • Need not handle a team
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available
  • Work from home option maybe available
Working hours
  • Hospitals/clinics usually work for 6/7 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from hospital to hospital

Minimum – B.Sc. in Food Technology/Microbiology

  • In-depth knowledge about nutritional value of different food items
  • Knowledge of metabolism cycle and nutrient requirement of different people
