The tasks a Masseur is expected to perform include:
  • Massaging various parts of the body by hand or machines

  • Removing stiffness, sprains and pains with massage
  • Working towards toning up muscles by improving blood circulation and stimulating the nervous system

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 1

  • It is not a desk job

  • Need not supervise a team

  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role

  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available

  • Work from home option maybe available

Working hours

  • Hospitals/clinics usually work for 6/7 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from hospital to hospital

  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 4

Minimum – 12th pass

KEY COMPETENCIES 1

  • Skilled in therapeutic massages of soft tissues and joints

  • Familiar with the assessment of range of motion and muscle strength

  • Skilled in proposing therapy plans to the client

  • Knowledge of all the principles and processes of various types of massages

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 4

Training in head massage and body massage

EXPECTED EARNINGS 4
