JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Nurse, Generalis expected to perform include:
  • Providing bedside care in cases of illness
  • Assisting Physician in examination and operation of patient and performing other nursing tasks
  • Maintaining record of patients’ treatment, temperature, respiration, pulse rate, nourishment, progress, etc.
  • Administering medicines and injections, as prescribed
  • Dressing wounds and rendering first aid
  • Observing and reporting to Physician or Surgeon about the mental, physical and emotional condition of patients
  • Preparing patients for examination or operation and helping to maintain healthy and hygienic environment for patients
  • Taking preventive measures to check spread of communicable diseases in the ward

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 1

  • It is not a desk job

  • Need not handle a team

  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role

  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available

  • Work from home option is not available

Working hours

  • Hospitals/clinics usually work for 6/7 days a week and 9/10 hours everyday. This may vary from hospital to hospital

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Minimum –B.Sc. (Nursing)

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • Skilled in using injections and providing medicine to patients
  • Knowledge of hygiene measures to be maintained around a patient
  • Skilled in providing first–aid
  • Basic knowledge of equipment related to cardiological, pulmonary, neurological, etc. treatment
  • Ability to handle critical and emergency situations
  • Proficient following instructions given by the Doctor/physician
  • Knowledge of patient profiling i.e. taking vital parameters
  • Skilled in assisting Doctors/Consultants in routine patient consultations and any related procedure
  • Proficient in counselling patients
  • Knowledge of handling and assisting in ECG, TMT assessment
  • Skilled in drawing blood samples in absence of Phlebotomists
  • Efficient in supporting end to end clinical operations like attending patients, MIS reports, handling telephone calls for patients and providing support to other staff members
  • Proficient in observing, assessing and recording symptoms, reactions and progress of patients
