JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks a Pharmacist is expected to perform include:
  • Dispensing medicines as prescribed by physician, dentist or veterinarian
  • Storing and arranging drugs
  • Preparing mixtures, powders, ointments, liniments, etc.
  • Instructing customers regarding dosage and use of medicines
  • Maintaining account of medical supplies, cash and daily record of prescriptions dispensed
  • Preparing intravenous solutions, tinctures, etc.
  • Dressing wounds, giving injections and enemas under guidance and rendering first-aid

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 1
  • It is not a desk job
  • Need to handle a team of junior pharmacists
  • Local travelling is not a part of this job role
  • Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available
  • Work from home option is not available

 

Working hours

  • Pharmacies usually work for 6/7 days a week and 9/10 hours everyday. This may vary from pharmacy to pharmacy

  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 3

Minimum – D. Pharma (Diploma in Pharmacy)

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
  • In-depth knowledge of all the salts used in medicines
  • Knowledge of how drugs work and what might be their side-effects
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Knowledge of all the latest drugs and drug salts
  • Skilled in mathematics, chemistry, biochemistry and statistics
  • Skilled in providing first-aid
  • Knowledge of legal regulations and governance of drugs
