JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks an Urologist is expected to perform include:

Diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders of genitourinary organs and tract

Examining patients, using X-ray machine, fluoroscope and other equipment to determine nature and extent of disorder or injury

Treating patients using diathermy machine, catheter, cystoscope, radium emanation tube and similar equipment

Performing surgeries in the cases required

Prescribing and administering urinary antiseptics to combat infection

WORK ENVIRONMENT ¹

It is a desk job

The candidate will supervise a team of Nurses and other Medical Staff

Local travelling is not a part of this job role

Part-time work and contractual jobs are available

Work from home option maybe available

Working hours

Hospitals/clinics usually work for 6/7 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from hospital to hospital

Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ⁴

Minimum – MBBS

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Proficient in studying clinical tests, histopathological examinations and X-ray reports

Skilled in detecting all problems of genitourinary organs and tract

Skilled in using diathermy machine, catheter, cystoscope, radium emanation tube and similar equipment

Knowledge of Ministry of Health (MoH) policies and general system of health management

Skilled in science such as biology, human anatomy and biochemistry

Proficient in examining patients

Detailed knowledge of all the urinary antiseptics available in the market

Skilled in interpreting tests and accordingly counselling patients on rehabilitative, preventative and dietary care

Knowledge of all the potential side effects associated with a particular drug and informing the patients accordingly

Skilled in using medical equipment and instruments
